Stanislav “Stash” Capar (pronounced Tsa-par)

Born to a dissident Rusyn father and a Polish mother of dispossessed minor nobility, Stash spent his earliest years in a refugee camp among families searching for a home. This experience shaped a lifelong, nuanced understanding of childhood, family, and the human condition— one that followed him across Canada, the U.K., Scandinavia, the Middle East, and ultimately the United States.

Choosing practice over prestige, Stash left two top film schools—one in Europe and one in North America—to focus on '“making things”. He began his career as an editor and creative producer before stepping into the director’s chair in 2015. His early projects were immediately recognized at the Cannes Young Director Award and the SHOOT New Directors Showcase. Since then, Stash has directed award-winning campaigns for AncestryDNA, Durex, Fujifilm, Gerber, MadeGood, Tylenol, and others.

Outside of commercial work, Stash is a feature screenwriter, specializing in stories centered on overcoming adversity and the search for personal peace. After years of writing and sometimes optioning spec scripts, he received his first commissioned feature in 2025: the life story of Calvin Peete, an eighth-grade dropout who defied poverty, physical limitation, and societal barriers to become one of the most successful African American golfers of the pre–Tiger Woods era.

Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2012, Stash has lived with the disease for over a decade without pausing his directing, writing, or boxing training—even during periods of disability. He lives between St. Petersburg, Florida, and Toronto, Canada, with his wife and two young children.
