Child refugee turned filmmaker.
Stanislav “Stash” Capar (pronounced Tsa-par) is known for his emotional authenticity, cinematic visuals, and unique ability to direct children.

Born to a dissident Rusyn father and a reserved Polish mother of dispossessed minor nobility, Stash spent his earliest years in a refugee camp among families searching for a home. This gave birth to a deep and nuanced understanding of childhood, family life, and the human condition, that followed Stash to Canada, the U.K, Scandinavia, the UAE and finally, the U.S.A.
Choosing practice over prestige, Stash left two top film schools (one in Europe and one in North America) to focus on “making things”. He worked as an editor and creative producer before stepping into the director’s chair, whereupon he was immediately recognized at the Cannes Young Director Award and the SHOOT New Directors Showcase for early projects. Since then, he has gone on to direct award-winning campaigns for AncestryDNA, Durex, Fujifilm, Gerber, MadeGood, Medicaid/Medicare, Tylenol and others.
Outside of commercials, Stash is a frequent collaborator with multiple sclerosis charity Shift.ms. His MS related films take a deeply personal look at how disability affects day to day life and have been featured in Free the Work. Stash was diagnosed with MS in 2012 and has been living with disability for over a decade.
